Ruyang Gr
Type Locality and Naming
West Henan. The Ruyang Gr was named by Jin Shouwen in 1976. The group was established in Ruyang, Henan Province.
Synonym: (汝阳群)
Lithology and Thickness
The group is composed of clastic rocks. The base consists of conglomerate, The Ruyan Group consists of the Bingmagou Fm, Yunmengshan Fm, Baicaoping Fm and Beidajian Fm. [See the Lexicon entries for those formations for details.] The total thickness is recorded to 13070 m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
It overlaps on volcanics of the Xiong'er Gr or older strata.
Upper contact
The top was disconformity overlain by the Luoquan Fm or the Xinji Fm.
Regional extent
West Henan-South Shanxi. The group is widely distributed in the area east of Xiong'er Mountain, Henan Province and southern Shanxi Province. Beside these, it also sporadically crops out in southeastern Henan Province.

Fossils
Microplants: Leiopsophasphaera, Trematosphaeridium, Leiaminuscula and Taeniatum. The dolomite occurring in the top of the Beidajian Fm contains stromatolites, such as Baicalia baicalica, Inzeria f.
